Ever since I can remember I have had a coloured pencil in my hand. My favourite Christmas present was a large pack of felt tip pens and a Bumper colouring book!
Throughout my career as a nurse I continued to hone my art skills. During covid / lockdown I enjoyed the time and freedom to be creative. I have used water colours and oils and decided to try painting with acrylics and have found this medium to be perfect for me.
Commissioning began when my friends rescued a german shepherd and I decided to paint their dog as a surprise present. They loved the painting and I have since been innundated with requests to paint other people's pets.
This website just seemed a natural progression, where people can see my work and commission a painting of their own.

Our pets are members of the family, they love us unconditionally and take up a huge space in our hearts. We have them in our lives for too short a time and having a portrait of a much loved pet or one which is no longer with us can be a lovely tribute.
I paint on an 8x10 canvas board in acrylics, and begin by drawing out the image by hand, then underpaint the tonal colours. As I move on to facial details, my brushes get smaller and smaller. I pay particular attention to the eyes, one of the parts I enjoy painting the most along with the nose.
The actual drawing and painting time takes around 12 hours in total excluding drying times in between. You can see some examples of my most recent work in my gallery.

Although I am based in Edinburgh, Scotland I can take commissions and post your artwork anywhere in the Uk. All I need to get started is a bit of info about your requirements and a good photo of your pet sent by email.
